| Bio: | My background in an evergrowing nutshell:Who am I. Well, there is actually a lot to that. Lets see, I am (in no particular order)
My topics: As you can tell from above I used to be in IT. I was a Software Engineer and System Administrator. I got caught in the whole IT and Telecom implosion here in Denver back from 2000 to 2002. Without a degree, I found myself locked out of the industry. I actually had an HR droid tell me that they didn't care if you knew what you were doing so long as you had a bachelor's degree. They didn't care what the bachelor's degree was in, it could even be in Underwater Basket Weaving. I'm happy to say that company is tits up. At the same time I was burned out of working with computers. I have been dealing with them since 1978. I was one of them wiz kids back in the late 70's who grew up thinking about what new things we could make a computer do and then doing it. Back then it was fun. Then Corporate America got involved. If you have ever read Dilbert, you know what I'm talking about. A Liberal Arts Major who is so incompetent that he/she can't even turn on a computer is put in charge of software development projects. This person then makes design and timetable decisions without ever even asking the technical team what is possible. Then we get the blame when everything falls apart. Enough was enough. Out of desperation I spent a few years driving buses for the local transit company (via sub-contractors). All I will say is that if you like being tired, driving long hours, being tired, working split shifts, being tired, getting very low pay, being tired, getting no respect from your employer, and did I mention being tired all the time, then its the job for you. After escaping the transit trap I drove a propane tanker for 4 months. That convinced me that driving, as a career, was not for me. I HATED every &%#!ing minute of driving. Long story short, my family and I ended up with an opportunity for me to go back to school and learn a new trade. I chose welding. I started school on May 1, 2006 and have been going daily since then. Now, in August of 2007, I have just secured my first welding job. I still have two classes to go, and my employer will work with me to finish school. Thats about it. I'm in the midst of a career change and that takes up a lot of my time.
